against a team they know well—San Diego
Dynasty. And this would be a chance for
Dynasty to avenge the 6-0 loss on Friday to
this same Red Legion team. But it was not
to be. Moscow Red Legion once again rolled
Dynasty, this time by the score of 6-2. San
Diego Aftermath drew the 8th seed from
the preliminary rounds in Baltimore Revo
and dispatched of them decisively, 4-1. Also
in the quarterfinals it was Houston Heat
squeaking by ac:Dallas 5-4 and Edmonton
Impact beating San Antonio X-Factor, also in
a one point game 3-2.
The semifinals were here and without a doubt
San Diego Aftermath deserved to be playing
for a shot to go to the finals. Although their
Vegas run would come to an end against
Houston Heat in the semifinals, they gave
Heat a game. In the end Houston Heat hung
on for a 2-1 win and an opportunity to play
in the finals. The other semifinal game was a
one-sided affair as Edmonton Impact put it
on Moscow Red Legion 7-2.
The NXL Las Vegas Open pro final matchup
would come as a shock to no one: Houston
Heat, last year’s title winners versus Edmonton
Impact, the pro title winners from 2015-2017.
All of the off season work; all of the roster
moves; all of the team bonding outings; and
all of the money spent would bring joy to
one team and disappointment to the other.
The final match would be a low scoring one
with Edmonton Impact in control from start
to finish. The 3-1 Edmonton Impact victory
would give them a leg up on the season-long
hunt for another professional NXL paintball
