For years, Viper has put on a magfed game
attracting players from all over the states called Magfed
Mayhem. This year, Viper put down the reigns and handed
them over to Mike Shelby to take over. Mike did not keep
the name Magfed Mayhem, he instead partnered with
Modern Combat Sports to make it an Operation: End War
Game. For those of you that are unfamiliar with the End
War Games, they were started a few years ago by RAP4
before they were MCS. These games are not just magfed
and scenario; they are tactically challenging Milsim games.
The game had 106 shooters, as well as role players that
were non-combative. Some players showed up on Friday
night to pitch their tents and camp out for the weekend,
but most came on Saturday morning. The weekend was
not the best weather wise, but it wasn’t terrible either. It
was pretty chilly, seeing as how the weather a few days
prior was in the 80s, this was not ideal; but players made
the best of it. Saturday morning the field was crawling with
players at registration, the chrono, the camps, and all over
the place. There was a mandatory player orientation at 10
am to go over rules and regulations. Game on was at 12
pm sharp. Chris “Stryker” Scotting lead the red side, and
Greg “Thantos” Bratulic led the blue side. When the game
started, players were off to their designated missions given

to them by their commanders. The game went strong, but
with any magfed event there was not as much shooting as
other paintball games (obviously). With limited paint, it is
a lot of fun to watch the players think and move tactically;
not just lay down paint and run.
The day was cool and long, but it came to an end for
dinner break. Players sat down and ate for a little while and
then began gearing up for the night game. Those that did
not play the night game, sat around the bonfire all night,
watched movies, and swapped war stories from the day.
When the sun went down, so did the temperature. It was
so cold that night some people went and found a hotel or
slept in their car. I just put 3 pairs of socks on and lots of
layers; but I still couldn’t feel my feet in the morning.
Sunday started off earlier than the day before at 9 am sharp.
Red and blue switched bases. Each team started strong
trying to get those last points before their final mission
and the end of the game. Firefights were everywhere and
games were hard fought. But in the end, there can only
be one victorious army. One cool aspect of this game was
the role player. These players were non-combative so they
won’t shoot you, but if you shoot them they just might stop
helping your team. One of the things that I saw happen
