each won three games and tied a fourth in the prelims.
You may remember the Brooklyn Bears won the Division
II Xball title last year. Stepping up and making the cut was
pretty impressive.
But the Bears’ impressive run didn’t end in the Ochofinals.
They won that game just getting by Louisville Asylum,
6-5. Then in the quarterfinals they handled their business
against P.C. Katana 6-3. The other semipro quarterfinal
winners were TJ All Stars, Sacramento DMG and Distortion.
In the semifinals the Brooklyn Bears continued their run
beating TJ All Stars 3-2 in another tight contest. Distortion
also won their semifinal game against Sacramento
DMG 5-0.

The semipro finals were set with the Brooklyn Bears, a team
that was playing their first event ever in this division, versus
Distortion, a final round mainstay and really excellent
team. And the game lived up to expectations. In the end
it was the Brooklyn Bears taking the game and first place
with a 6-4 win.
In Division 2 “WPBO D1” (D2) X-Ball there were 22 teams
ready to do battle in Friday’s preliminary rounds. And of
the 22 teams only Hawaiian Heat won all four first round
games. Montreal Image, one of a handful of teams
with three preliminary round wins played Boom II in the
quarterfinals, taking that game by a single point, 4-3. Also
