Planet Eclipse EGO LV 1.6
Ok everybody, hang on to your seats… Planet Eclipse has brought the EGO LV series paintball
guns back into the fray! YEP! You read that right! Poppet lovers rejoice! I present to you
the EGO LV 1.6. There aren’t a lot of changes made between the 1.6 and the 1.5 and that’s
awesome if you want my personal opinion. The changes Planet Eclipse did make, are the
improvements that really matter. You ask anyone, and I do mean anyone in paintball and
regardless if they love or hate Planet Eclipse guns, they darn sure respect them! The LV 1.5
was pulled from the market in 2018 due to solenoid maintenance issues. They were one of
the most beloved paintball guns on the marker and many players have refused to give them
up, they are just that good. The older EGO LV’s however can be difficult to maintain because
of plastic adjustment screws that stripped and the solenoid itself couldn’t be rebuilt. When
the solenoid went, it needed to be replaced and it is quite an expensive part. The EGO LV 1.6
steps up their game with metal internal adjustment screws to prevent wear. More importantly,
Planet Eclipse under the direction of paintball design genius Jack Wood designed an all new
and rebuildable solenoid. There have been a few other changes as well such as a new unique
milling. Planet Eclipse has also updated the barrel to the Shaft FL barrel system. It’s a 14”
carbon fiber tip with a .689 insert. Ultimately though, there aren’t a lot of noticeable changes
that would affect feel or performance. Why mess with perfection? The advancements that
Planet Eclipse made to the EGO LV 1.6 are all about improving the player’s overall experience
with the gun.
