“Being in the state of Massachusetts, the
hardships they throw on small businesses here

The minimum wage in Massachusetts is $13/
hr and $15/hr next year, and even 6 years
ago, that was $8/hr. Having that increase with
health insurance being in Massachusetts, you
have to pay up to 50% of everybody’s health
care. So I wasn’t expecting so many costs
based on where my location was. But I’ve had
some good surprises as well, and that we were
able to retain a lot of our employees, that have
been able to be there from real early. Those
were happy surprises.”
