How will the new pro teams fare in the deep water? Will all
the roster moves help their teams make Sundays and climb
podiums? Will the 2020 season be blessed with dry weather in
places like Texas and Richmond? The biggest question heading
into 2020 though, is whether teams like Houston Heat, the
Russian Legion, Edmonton Impact and AC:Dallas will answer
X-Factor’s impressive 2019 season with a dominant 2020. Heat
and the Russians can win any event at any time. Edmonton
Impact clearly wasn’t satisfied with their 2019 season and made
moves, and AC: Dallas is just about due to start hoisting gold
trophies.
The ICPL
The National XBall League, under the auspices of the International
Classic Paintball League, will host two classic style events in
2020, bookending the season with an event at Central Florida
Paintball in late January and another at the legendary Badlandz
near Chicago in early October. Pro teams like Aftershock,
Adrenaline, Infamous, the All Americans, the Ironmen, the
Saberwolves, the Misfits, Fight Club, and Northwest Rogue will
be joined for the new season by Rhythm, Ground Zero Gold,
AC: Empire and Doc’s Warriors. These highly competitive classic
style events at great locations are certain to host some intense
ten-man competition with some of the best players in the world
doing battle!
The Iron City Classic
And then there’s the Iron City Classic. We should almost leave
it at that because if you know, then you know. This remarkable
stand-alone classic event offers Hyperball, woodsball and
mounds competition with plenty of vendors and an incredible
atmosphere the likes of which hasn’t been seen in paintball
since the days of the Amateur Open. To be held again at Urban
Assault outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania July 31 through August
2 and hosted by longtime professional player Tim Montressor,
this event is certain to sell out in record time as it did in 2019,
though teams who placed in the top 27 will have access to early
registration in order to give them a crack at slots before the
roaring mob breaks down the gate and charges in waving money
around. Playing alongside teams like Dynasty, Farside, Image,
Infamous, the All Americans, the Misfits, Adrenaline, Ground
Zero and the Saberwolves makes for one amazing event, as
does the everything else. Don’t miss this one. We have spoken.
