In the professional division of the NXL, it’s been an interesting off- season to say the least as teams look to improve their rosters, hold onto key players and make deals with sponsors to get the gear needed to compete at the highest level. Scottsdale Elevation was relegated at the end of the 2019 season, clearing the way for AC: Diesel to join the professional ranks. Team Boom underwent a “name change” and Virginia’s NRG Elite will be the new name for the new season, while PC Katana merged with Columbus LVL to put a pro pin on the map in Ohio for 2020. In other team news, New York Xtreme made the switch to HK Army products for the upcoming pro season. Teams weren’t the only ones hustling during the off season, as individual players, too, were on the move. Alex Rosati headed back to NYX, leaving Impact, while Infamous added Harrison Frye, Greg Siewers and Michael Waring! After saying goodbye to Greg Siewers, Tim Brusselback and the aforementioned Alex Rosati, Edmonton Impact added two heavy hitters in Kyle Spicka and Trevor Resar, both from the Ironmen. Tim Brusselback transitioned to Uprising for 2020. Most of the teams at and near the top of the food chain in the pro bracket have maintained their rosters and sponsors with exceptions like Nick Slowiak moving on from X-Factor, and Dynasty who added Mike Urena from DMG, while Alex Rodriguez said goodbye to the boys in blue. Most recently, Brad McCurley announced he would move from AC:Dallas to a team a little closer to his Florida home, Tampa Bay Damage. Where manufacturer stables are concerned, Planet Eclipse looks to have the most teams shooting their markers for the 2020 season, with squads like X-Factor, Impact, Revo, Infamous, NYX and the Outlaws under the “E” banner, with Luxe and Dye supplying teams with their top-level markers as well, including Houston Heat and Damage notably on the Luxe side, and the Russians and Ironmen shooting Dye. Dynasty will of-course shoot the Field 1 Force marker, Seattle Thunder made their Adrenaline Shockers look good in 2019 which likely won’t change, and MacDev, should nothing change from 19 to 20, should power a team or two as well. www.paintball.media 087
