GI Sportz didn’t have a huge booth
this year at Paintball Extravaganza, but they were there!
They were showing off some of their new products with
Tippmann, Empire, and more. They also had classes for
all the new equipment. GI Sportz has had a big year with
acquiring KEE Action Sports and many more companies;
I wonder what is in store for 2016?
Erich Garbers was there for Tippmann teaching classes on
the TiPX, as well as showing off the new Assault Marker
line and rental gun line. Tippmann’s new line of full
electro-pneumatic assault markers is fantastic addition to
the Tippmann family. These markers are a lot alike but
have some differences. They also have some new rental
markers. These markers are lighter and more durable
than ever before.
Probably the most notable product on display at Paintball
Extravaganza was the Empire EVS mask with Heads

Up Display. These goggles are a huge step forward
technology wise for paintball. This smart goggle utilizes
a wearable computer, the Heads Up Display, which
allows users to access information about their gear and
surroundings at a glance. Although the mask is currently
not available yet, it will be this year hopefully very soon.
The HUD connects wirelessly with Empire markers and
loaders through Bluetooth. It also connects to third party
POV cameras, including GoPro and Contour. The mask is
controlled by a water-resistant wearable D-pad remote.
The HUD is positioned at the bottom of the mask frame,
making it unobtrusive but easy to access.
The EVS mask itself is a quality mask. It has a quick toolless
lens replacement. The dual-pane lens creates a thermal
barrier to reduce fogging. They are scratch resistant as
well as anti-reflective lens that block 100% of harmful
