Sunday’s Domination game was a bit more
familiar to players, with the objective being
to own as much of the field as possible. The
flags at the seven bases were scored every
10 minutes leading to many spectacular
engagements all around the field. When
the final scores were tallied, the Red Army
emerged victorious as the winners of the first
SuperGame EAST.
If you haven’t been to OXCC, you must make
the trip. Tucked away near the Maryland-
Delaware border and at over 100 acres, the
field is off the beaten path, but is beautifully
manicured and very well organized. The
airfield has two Chinook helicopters and
other small aircraft, while the Marina provides
a dozen boats as bunkers. Those are just
two of the 16 fields that OXCC meticulously
maintains. The various forts, trenches,
wooden areas and bunkers are all in fantastic
condition. The field does an impressive 30
hours of mowing each week to keep the field
in perfect form for its players.
Another common complaint you often
hear at events is the quality or quantity of
the referee staff. That was not the case at
SuperGame East. The OXCC staff hit it out
of the park. Everywhere you turned there
was a referee watching, engaged and willing
to assist players. They were informed of the
rules and determined to make sure everyone
played fairly and had a good time. As a result,
the vast majority of players exhibited good
sportsmanship and honorable play with
only a few isolated cases of overshooting or
wiping.
