Social media has given us a platform
to show off the worst in us. We spend
more time trying to be cleverly rude
in our responses than we do trying
to sound intelligent. We use shut-
down comments instead of having
conversations because we’d rather win
than hear the other side of a debate.
We don’t debate or discuss in any type
of detail because we might have to
admit to ourselves that we’re wrong
sometimes. Vulnerability is lost. We
hide in our safe blue or red boxes so
we don’t have to take the risk of being
wrong.
I’m tired of one-way “conversations.”
I’m fine with whatever phone you like
but I can also tell you why I like mine.
If you think NFL players are actually
protesting the flag, tell me why and I’ll
listen. If you are convinced Eli Manning
is not a future Hall of Famer, I’ll debate
you and I’ll hear your side. If you don’t
like my politics that’s fine because I
don’t like my party either right now.
I don’t like Fox News or CNN. They
both have self-serving agendas. Want
to discuss? Let’s do it.
I’m tired of one-word answers to
complex questions. Aren’t you?
Thanks for reading!
