event functions both like a scenario and big game combined, Fox explained, “Because big games are based on ground control and owning flag stations and scenario games are mission-based where you complete missions for points, Dreaded Legends is both.” Two notable living legends were chosen to be the Generals leading two different sides. On the Red side, Israel Lagares of Social Paintball played the role of “Captain Blackbeard”. The Blue side had Tech PB’s Willie Galarza playing the part of Captain Calico Jack. Each side also had a crew of other role-playing pirates with well-known players like Team BBK’s Pat Jannarone as Captain Charles Vane, Pacifico Ruffins was Captain Long Ben, with the Modern Day Pirates taking ground on the Red Side. On the Blue side, appropriately placed was Blue’s Crew assisting Ninja Death Squad’s Jeremy Downs as Captain Morgan and John Helmers as Captain Black Bart (Helmer’s even dressed the part to get in the piratelike mood). Other famous paintball faces like Michael “Blue” Hanse of Blue’s Crew was there. Blue has owned the well-known EMR Paintball Park since 1996 and has been playing paintball since 1983. His famous scenario team Blue’s Crew, formed in 2003. Blue chose Dreaded Legends to be the first event of his final season in paintball. His reason for making this his final year, he shared, “I’ve done a lot of years and I want to spend most of my time with my wife and my 16-month old grandson, spend time with my son and his wife too.” He continued, “But you can still see me at EMR Paintball in Pennsylvania where I’ll be attending www.paintball.media 035
