THE CHALLENGE WAS THERE,
Panama organized the first Latin American UWL (Ultimate
Woodsball League) ten-man competition this past March
28-29 in Panamá City.
Thirteen teams met at the Carpaintball field, including
the Dragons, Ecuador’s UWL Champion from the 2014
season plus 11 teams from Panama.
The reffing was trusted to the experienced President
of the UWL Colombia, Head Reff Juan Manuel Turizo.
Wuido Yañez, Head of UWL Ecuador, was in charge of
supervision on the field.
The games were played in the jungle, the heat was
intense, but humidity made it even difficult to breathe.
“It was difficult at the beginning; we had to adjust as the
games went on. We had to adjust everything… the length
paintballs traveled and broke through the weeds and
even how low we had to play to find cover,” explained
Marco Velásquez from Ecuador.

“It´s great to compete against people from other places,
I feel the UWL is like the soccer FIFA of Woodsball
paintball. It does not matter where you play UWL, the
rules are the same. That allows you to visit other countries
and still adapt immediately to the game,” said Eder
Cabrera Mexico´s Team.
Heads of the UWL from Panama, Colombia, Ecuador
and Mexico promised to work hard to make the Latin
American league extremely competitive and to have one
or two International events a year. Panama´s UWL leaders,
Rafael Chung, Carlos Quintero Vence and Taddeus Joel
Porras delivered what they had promised… a great event
Next UWL International event will be Cancun, México
Oct. 31 and Nov. 1st. • • •
