We renewed our attack and pushed as many people as possible towards the front of the line helping to eliminate several more Renegades on the way in. We managed to push up within 20’ of the fort and started pushing charges in from several angles. I finally managed to reach the fort wall and started trading fire with the defenders inside every time they started shooting out of the firing ports, confirming the elimination on at least 1 more defender. Down to my last mag, I tried to jump up and eliminate another player shooting over the top of the fort and was eliminated by friendly fire. As I was walking out another charge hit the fort and Red team ended up hanging the flag shortly after. With the first objective secured, I left the field to get some rest for Saturday’s game.“ As dawn broke and the first few rays of sunshine crested the sky early Saturday, it was already apparent the day would be everything attendees could hope for. As photographer/videographer I managed to catch epic breakouts as the game began. Not long thereafter clashes of players all over the field exchanged paint. Players were intense and the aggressive nature of the game was revealed as battles for real estate raged across the acreage. Tanks rolled through trying to punch holes in the front lines, some saw success while other times, players armed with nerf rockets thwarted the offensive. To add to the mix there was a third “Renegade Team” made up of some of the juggernaut teams that complicated everything for both the Red and Blue teams. Typically in my experience, the introduction of a third team does not usually work out well, in this case and I cannot quite put my finger on it, it worked just fine. A few things that stuck out in my mind that were different and at the same time quite brilliant. The immensity of the property allowed for a section of the field to be cordoned off. For approximately an hour ... players using only mag fed or pump action markers could enter the area to battle for objectives. A clever way of incorporating all styles of paintball into a single game experience. In the event of a more serious injury requiring a stoppage in play. Players were instructed upon seeing such an injury to stop firing, set their marker down and cry out “Freeze”... nearby players would follow suit and the result was exponential as soon you could hear the cries of “Freeze” echoing across the property. Sunday the teams switched sides as “The Spoils of War” www.paintball.media 141
