was fired up and winning point after point. London Outcasts
played Redding Entity in one of the closest games we have
seen over the weekend. London Outcasts took a 3-point
lead and the game looked like it was going to be a white
wash but Redding Entity came into the game fired in 4
unanswered points. With only 24 seconds on the clock
Jason Wheeler read the riot act the whole team responded
and picked themselves up. They were like a well oiled
machines. Heading back onto the field could they score with
in the allotted 24 seconds to take the game into overtime?
Or would Entity hold off for an impressive win?
The game buzzer sounded Entity sat back defending their
lead. Outcasts made a charge up the field shooting 2 off
the break. Entity was down to 3, but they also shot 2 of the
break making it a 3 on 3 game. Entity lost a further player
but so did Outcast. This left Jason Wheeler on teabag side
(Dorito), Sam Carter on snake side. With only 4 seconds left
Jason and Sam eliminated the remainder of Entity and Sam
took off running for the buzzer.
3 seconds... 2 seconds... 1 second... Sam hit the buzzer but
did he hit it in time? No, the referees called game over as
Sam’s hand was coming down onto the buzzer. Redding
Entity 4, London Outcasts 3 final score. Jason Wheeler
came off the field and spoke to head referee David O’Brian,
stating that Sam had hit the buzzer before the allotted time
had ran out. Sam was pleading his point to the referees
but the ruling stood, time had ran out and they would not
get the point. London Outcasts finished the day of in 2nd
place with Birmingham Disruption taking top spot and with
London Tigers taking 3rd.
After 2 rounds Birmingham Disruption is in 1st place, Lucky
15s Staffordshire sit in 2nd, and London Outcast sit in 3rd
place. ECI Veterans took 1st place at round 2, building on
their round 1 success finishing 2nd, Previously a Millennium
Division 1 team. ECI took an impressive 4 podium finishes
in the 2007 and 2008 seasons. ECI gained promotion into
the Elite Division for round 3. One41 improved on their 5th
place finish at round 1 and took 2nd place at round 2.
London Samurai after being relegated at round 1 from the
Elite Division, were looking to put in a performance that
represented an elite team. But they could not get to grips
with the field layout and soon realized that D1 was going to
be a tough division to get out of, due to the high standard of
teams fighting for top spot within this division. Durham DV8
found themselves drawn in group C
