Wasaga Beach Paintblall
Wasa-what? Wasaga Beach. It is one of
Canada’s best kept secrets. About an hour’s
drive north of Toronto, it is the worlds largest
freshwater beach. All the fun, none of the
salt stains or sharks. It is one of Canada’s
few party towns. People come from all over
in the summer to enjoy the beach and the
hospitality of the town that has grown up
around it. What is better though is it is home
to one of Canada’s greatest paintball fields.
Wasaga Beach Paintball has been around for
25 years and the place is amazing. Once the
home of the Canadian Amateur Open (Beach
Blitz), it still hosts yearly big games and full
scenario games bringing in thousands every
year. Did I mention that this place is massive?
70 acres worth of playing area and that’s
mostly thick woods. They have an attack and
defend mansion, a UFO, man made tanks
and battle fields. They even have a 20,000
sq/f indoor playing area for winter months,
so it is open all year round and that is a big
deal in Canada. I think what I like BEST about
Wasaga Beach Paintball is that it still feels
like a small local field. I’ve personally been
playing at this field since the 90’s and the
owners Steve and Donna Langman genuinely
love the sport and are passionate about the
paintball community. They are always looking
to not only improve their facilities but reach
out to the community. Steve and Donna run
summer paintball camps for kids. What is
more, they donate substantial amounts of
money to a town in the Dominican Republic
that is in desperate need. I like to think of it as
the town that paintball built. One last thing…
Wasaga Beach Paint does have air ball fields
as well if tournament play is more your style.
Fair warning though… their field team the
Beach Boys are no joke. They regularly travel
to the United States to play in the NXL. Come
prepared for a fight or you will get a polite
Canadian whoopin!
