Once again the National Xball League was back at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas for its second event of the season, after an excellent opening event in Las Vegas. With only five major pro / am tournaments in the U. S. the importance of these events cannot be overstated. The cost to teams physically, financially and emotionally is tremendous as they travel from around the world to compete in the NXL, the world’ s largest paintball stage. Yearlong practices, the financial commitment needed to get to this level, sponsorship pressures, days in the gym and time away from family and work are just a few examples of what it takes to play at this level, no matter if you play in the Pro Xball division or Division Four.
Coming into the NXL Texas Open it was Edmonton Impact ranked at the top of the Pro Xball division following their win in Las Vegas. San Antonio X-Factor, San Diego Dynasty and maybe surprisingly, Baltimore Revo, rounded out the top four respectively. But ranking in the top four after one event is not the goal. The goal is to be the last team standing in November after the NXL World Cup or NXL Europe’ s World Championships. three games.
After a fifth place showing in Las Vegas, Houston Heat got their first major win of the season and in a calendar year in France at the NXL Europe’ s opening event of the season. Could that carry over into Texas for Heat? www. paintball. media
