HK TFX Loader Text & Photography by Joshua D. Silverman Making a loader isn’t easy. Like so many things in life, if it were easy, everybody’d be doing it. And if you look around the world of paintball business and manufacturing, you’ll notice there aren’t that many loaders. After all, it’s not like the paintball players of the world are asking for much – just a device that feeds biodegradable, water-soluble, somewhat round objects that sometimes stick together and sometimes get really brittle and sometimes crack and sometimes swell up into paintball guns that can often shoot twenty paintballs per second or more without jamming and without breaking and without gobbling up batteries and without being a large target and without being too heavy and without looking silly and without costing too much, in hot weather, cold weather, dry weather or wet weather that we can still blame for losing after a rough game. After a couple of decades in this crazy game including stints working at several different companies that have produced loaders, whenever a paintball company announces they’re throwing their hat into the loader ring, my first thought is “good luck with that”. It’s not easy. If it works perfectly people won’t like how it looks. If it looks great, it’s almost impossible to make it work. It’s a difficult, thankless portion of the game of paintball that only a small handful of companies have ever scored big hits with. So when I heard HK Army, sponsors of legendary pro team Dynasty and the brand behind some impressive jerseys, the hot new KLR goggle system and a successful line of playing gear and casual clothing was looking to get into the loader business, I was both impressed by their willingness to take the chance and curious as to what they might have in store. What they had in store was the TFX. The HK TFX loader is a high-tech, tournament-level loader system intended to feed even the highest-performance markers available. Currently used by Dynasty in the National XBall League, the TFX is proving itself capable of holding its own against other proven designs like the Rotor, the Spire and the Prophecy. Powered by two AA batteries, simple to dismantle and offering a sleek, low profile that makes a difficult target for opponents, the TFX is attractive, user-friendly and, clearly, well thought-out. www.paintball.media 107
