Paintball Magazine January 2019 Issue | Page 17

From The Editor Every year for almost two decades, with the help of countless great photographers, I’ve put together an annual special photo edition magazine. This is by far my favorite magazine issue each year as it reminds me how blessed we are to have the absolute best photographers in the game. This issue also reminds me of how special the game of paintball is. From the creativity of the scenario game circuit, to the international professional leagues, to the thousands of mom and pop fields around the world, paintball is a sport, a game, a hobby and a lifestyle. And there’s nothing else like it anywhere. In this age of all things video there’s something even more special about a photo that tells a story. A one thousandth of second snapshot of a game can tell you who won and who lost. It can show the agony of defeat and the absolute joy of victory. You can feel the intensity of the game, you can see the athleticism of its players and you’ll be drawn to the storyline. One thousandth of a second is all that’s needed to capture the beauty of paintball, the size and scope of a big game or tournament venue and the commitment of an industry and its players. There’s nothing average about this game. And there’s nothing average about our photo-corps either. This handful of super creative, artistic photographers cover everything that happens in the game worldwide and they do it better than anyone. I’m grateful they have chosen to work with us. So thank you to Aaron Dill, Josh Silverman, Gary Baum, Liz Ickes, Erik Chateau, Chris Terry, BillyJack Mefford, Dave Stufflebeam, Cleo Fogel, Skirmish Photos, Steven C Price, Justin Winders, James Pulliam, Glenn Mehltretter. Ryan Sexton, Joseph McKinney, Jackson Hobbs, Zac Arbuckle and Jake Kreulen. We literally can’t do this without you! www.paintball.media 017
