The day started with an opening battle with Black Karma defending the wall for the Tyrell against the Freeman invasion. The Freeman invasion were too much for the lone 30-man Black Karma team to hold out against and the wall fell within a matter of 30 minutes. Once the Freeman gained control of the wall, it was time for both teams to gain control of their bases and other key areas on the field. The Freemen were the first to gain control of their base and move their insertion point closer to the battle. The Tyrell had a little trouble in the form of the 502nd as they tried to gain control of their base, but finally were able to eliminate the 502nd one player at a time. As the day progressed, and the threat of rain went away, the Freemen were able to control most of the field and run their mission without much trouble. Slowly the Tyrell were able to slowly gain some control of the field and get some missions run throughout the day, but it was not enough to pull ahead of the Freemen by dinner break. The rumor going around during supper was that the Freemen were ahead of the Tyrell by 800 points with the night invasion and Sunday’s game still ahead. There was good play during the day from both sides with outstanding sportsmanship shown on both sides. One funny situation during the day involved this reporter and another player from the Bounty Hunters. As the Bounty Hunters finished running a mission, the Freemen tank and about 15 players came up the road to the tower that the Bounty Hunters just finished the mission at. As the remaining Bounty Hunters fanned out to avoid the tank, one Bounty Hunter and I managed to get back in the tower and posted at the top of the stairs. Both of us were trying to remain very still and quiet as the tank pulled up beside us and the Freemen players stood around the tower. At that time, someone said that they should check the building, but luckily no one took it upon themselves to do it. Then the tank took off for parts unknown while 66 paintball.media magazine
