Stars-Stripes and an Iron Cross: Every year a player newspaper is produced so that players can have all the information that they need for the game. The paper includes rules, schedules and interesting articles on WWII events. An electronic copy is available by going to https://bit. ly/2KGw8ca. Invasion: Where to begin… So much happens on “Invasion Saturday” that it’s hard even for me (the Allied Commander) to keep it all straight. With limited space here I have to be short. At 0730 the 82nd and the 101st Airborne troops deployed onto the field via military transport to random locations on the map to simulate the actual D-Day paratrooper mis-drops. At 0800 the rest of the Allies, and German forces (including both sides’ tanks) took their respective positions on the field and prepared for battle. The 1st ID, 4th ID, 238th engineers hit Omaha beach hard with the Rangers and Commonwealth forces attacking across Pegasus bridge. The Germans were dug in and used their defensive positions extremely well. 72 paintball.media magazine Both sides fought well and played great paintball all day long. The most tactical move of the game from the Allied side was a combined Airborne movement of 120 players from Caen in the South to the Airfield (2/3rds of the field) without being spotted or engaged. Despite the hard- fought advances in end the Germans were victorious. The game was a close one and no one really knew the outcome until the producers announced the outcome at the end of the day. 2019: As announced at the end of this year’s game there are changes coming to Oklahoma D-Day for 2019. As I am writing this, nothing is set in stone as the field and promoters take into account the player surveys, emails, and Facebook comments that are presented at the end of every year. What is known is that the game format for Saturday will change and that there will be additional mini-games added during the week that include some beaches to give everyone the chance to experience the feeling that the WWII soldier felt while fighting the battles of WWII. What we also know is that Oklahoma D-Day will still be D-Day and players will come from all over the world to a paintball Mecca located in the north east corner of Oklahoma, to once again see old friends and make some new friends. I, God willing will see you all there. Until then play hard, play well, but most of all play with honor.
