The third leg of the National Xball League’s
2017 season took place in a new location for
the league—Atlantic City. Although not a
new host to professional paintball, it’s been
quite a while since a major paintball event
has been held in the home of the Jitney Bus,
Salt Water Taffy, the world-famous boardwalk
and the largest collection of casinos this
side of Las Vegas. In 2002 the NPPL last
brought its traveling paintball series to the
Garden State’s gambling capital and now
15 years later the NXL and nearly 200 teams
returned—this time within 5 minutes of the
bustling casino district and beach.
Edmonton Impact in a thrilling one-point win
in the professional finals. In Dallas it would
be Houston Heat that would pull off an
overtime win in the pro finals, also against
Edmonton Impact, the team that won three
pro events and the rankings title in 2016. But
the consolation prize for Edmonton Impact’s
2017 season to date is that their two second
place finishes keeps them atop the NXL
rankings leaderboard. And without a U.S.
win at this point, most would still consider
Impact the clear favorite in every event they
enter.
