the truck, I could feel air moving through the pants and that went a long way towards keeping me cool. When the breeze did blow, even standing still I could feel it. Plenty of squeegee pockets were handy, though luckily the paint was good enough that I didn’t really need them. to say I have a soft spot for anything that matches my old Renegades is putting it mildly. It was 94 degrees, sunny and humid on the day I broke out the UNDR Operators for their first test. Naturally – it’s summer in the South after all. I think the heat index hit a solid 101. The first issue I noticed was that while I might have been wearing the same camo pattern I did when I won my first tournament, I’m not in the shape I was back in college. Luckily for me, the Operators were there to help. The adjustable waist tabs let me tailor the pants to fit me and the cheeseburgers, and the ventilation on these things is absolutely dead-solid perfect. Every time I moved, even simply walking from the air station to Zippered pockets in the front of UNDR’s Operator pants kept a spare wrench and a couple of bucks for an undercooked hot dog and a Gatorade safe, while the heavily padded knees stayed right where they needed to be to both protect my not-as-young-as-theyused-to-be knees and encourage the occasional long-range bounce while standing up or moving from spot to spot. The adjustable cuffs came in handy too, as I was playing in the woods and I didn’t need anything getting in there I didn’t invite. For shorter players these will also help keep the back of the bottom of these pants from being walked-on and ground up by cleats on parking lots. Ask me how I know. Did I mention the amazing ventilation? So good. I’m talking air-conditioned crotch here. This was the first set of paintball pants I’ve worn in a while that, on a hot day, I couldn’t wait to get off the field and drag down around my ankles to cool off while I filled pods. Ask Viper, he knows. I think he likes it. Bottom line: if you’re not going to buy paintball gear from Chris and UNDR simply because he’s a great man who loves the game and oh by the way fought for our freedom, that’s cool because his product stands on its own feet. His Operator pants are durably made, light, comfortable and extremely well ventilated. Movement while running, crouching, sliding, kneeling, crawling and leaning is unencumbered and the pants don’t bind, pinch or otherwise make the wearer uncomfortable.
