THE MILLENNIUM SERIES has been
the premiere paintball league in Europe since 1999,
with virtually every serious European tournament team
in existence competing in the league at some point
and time. Awesome venues in amazing parts of Europe
are only part of the attraction. A great game format, the
highest level of competition, the event organization,
the webcast, the vibe, culture and value are the reasons
players and teams dedicate their paintball careers to
this series.
The Campaign Cup, held at Barleylands Farm in Basildon,
England each year for a half decade is stop number three
on the four-stop Euro tour for the Millennium Series in
2015. Like all Millennium events a premium was put on
the event’s overall vibe. Off the field there was a concert
by Wild Horse that featured Henry and Jack Baldwin, sons
of Millennium partner Stephen Baldwin (who also plays in
the band), there was a volleyball court (which was used all
day, every day), Bubble games (see photos), music playing
all day, foosball and a great trade show.
Five minutes from the playing fields were the event hotels-
-and London City Airport is a 30 minute drive from the
hotels and fields. For those flying into Heathrow and
Gatwick the drive was a bit longer—roughly an hour. But
the choice of airports makes getting to England from
literally anywhere in Europe easy (but a bit expensive as
the UK Pound Sterling is very strong right now). On site
camping was available to players.
Some of the on-site vendors included GI Sportz, Empire
Paintball, Dye, Luxe, Planet Eclipse, Drom, Anthrax and
about 20 more. Like all Millennium events the trade show
in Basildon was always busy.
GAMES AND TEAMS
It’s been quite a year in the Millennium Series. With two
events in the books it’s GI Houston Heat and Toulouse
TonTons tied atop of the Champions Paintball League
(CPL) standings, each with a win and a second place finish
in the first two events (Germany and France). Both teams
have 188 seed points after two events. Tied for third place
in the CPL are Breakout Spa and Edmonton Impact, each
with 152 seed points and a lot of ground to make up to
get to the top. Essentially, coming into this
