As dawn hit Saturday, they fired up the compressors, cases of paint floated to staging areas and the popping of the chrono station began. The feeling was in the air, the line was drawn, only one thing remained, raise the black flag and start slitting throats. As the battle began the sides came to stand off at the village, a place that has seen much paint trade sides, even the occasional rocket or two. The village always seemed to be the true test, who can push thru the village can easily make their way around the field, if you can push thru. A task that seemed unfulfilled for most of the day. Mission completion was scarce at the start of the battle, seems the Pirates on either side only had a taste for blood. As it came to midday Saturday it seemed that Blue was able to push Red back a bit, not much, but enough to start completing 034 paintball.media magazine missions. As Blue players, we were told that Red was so shootout driven that they weren’t completing any missions. The thought that the Marauders only wanted war was a fatal mistake, not only were they fully engaged in the firefights but they were also completing as many missions as they could. As the first day of competition came nearing an end, it seemed as most the warriors had as well, except for a few Marauders. They took a late day opportunity to crowd the Buccaneer base in hopes to take it over. With an hour left on the clock the battle was on, a few tried to fend off many. Touching the base may have made the Buccaneers seem invincible, the onslaught of paint did not. With less than an hour left the Marauders took the Buccaneers base for pride and took a commanding lead going into day two. We closed Saturday’s
