CPX events stormed Black Ops Paintball, in like
a lion and out like a lion; no, that is not quite
how the saying goes but it seems that is the only
thing CPX got wrong with this event. They began
their 2020 season much like their 2019 season,
with Bones and Ashes. The third installment of
this event features the previous, and only winner
to date, Joe Perez of the 13th Legionnaires going
head to head against Eric Bryant of the Head
Hunterz, first time commander and member of
the home team. The chance to dethrone 2-time
defending champ, an opportunity to enjoy a
legendary game at a legendary field or just a way to
paint the town in absolute carnage must have been
alluring enough to smash all the previous records.
Bones and Ashes III saw a higher pre-registration
then total attendance for 2019, not to mention the
highest overall attendance of this event’s history.
This game continues to grow in not just attendance
but in excitement as well with this year’s numbers
topping over 500. Black Ops and CPX joined forces
in epic ways to bring everyone in attendance their
best event yet with all-out war in a tactical jungle,
speedball and an outfitted pro shop, no needs or
wants went unanswered. Ceres Metal Industries and
the Corean Consortium were on a collision course
for precious metals, with their eyes solely set on
the sovereignty of this war-stricken jungle, but they
seemed to have forgotten about the beast that lies
within. Hopperfed, magfed, mechanical lovers and
first strikers alike plan to meet each other on the
battlefield with 280 feet per second paintball high
fives to the face in a chess match for eternal glory.
CPX events generally take many, many months of
preparation from all parties involved, with production
staff creating the puzzle, players’ travel plans and
field construction, but in everyone’s schedule it starts
on the Friday before the great battle. Many players
come in early for the event to register, to beat that
colossal Saturday morning line, and to take part in early,
pregame shenanigans. CPX will usually plan shooting
events to give the more hopper-challenged, or shall we
say anti-electros, an opportunity to out maneuver each
other in a tactical open play situation. The first alluring
point grab comes early for both commanders as they are
called to assemble the forces they have available for a
