In Victoria, promoting cultural diversity and living in harmony with each other is becoming a prominent topic on the agenda of government, non-government organisations and community groups. On the streets and in Melbourne’s suburbs this strong support has not always been evident as minority groups (such as young from African backgrounds) have expressed that they often feel misunderstood by the wider Australian community particularly as a result of misleading media reporting.
This led me to Co-found an arts organization Footprint Enterprises Inc. in 2008 where I continue to walk alongside young people from a range of culturally diverse backgrounds who are emerging artists. Footprints exists to create places to bring about social change through the creative arts. I hope that members of the Australian community can also enjoy the relationship I experience with many cultural communities in Australia who have migrated to Australia and through this relationship blossoms meaningful exchanges which may also inspire future initiatives.

The Gua Project
The GUA Project represents diverse young people in Melbourne’s West and South Eastern suburbs uniting through Hip Hop, Dancehall and Reggae culture to pursue positive social change for our community. The word ‘GUA’ means peace, power and strength and is inspired by international hip hop artist and former child soldier Emmanuel Jal. GUA saw the collaboration of two community driven organisations: Footprints Enterprises - representing the South East; and Jungle City MASSIVE - representing the West, joining
