CHOOSE THE RIGHT
PAGEANT LIPSTICK
Q
uick! What lipstick are you wearing on stage?
If you can’t answer that question without
skipping a beat then you may be in trouble. Here’s a
few tips for choosing the right lipstick for every part
of the pageant.
Interview. For the interview segment that is held
privately, between you and the Judges you will be face
to face, so don’t choose any color that is overpowering
your face. Choose a color that you like but keep in
mind it doesn’t need to stand out like it does on stage.
On Stage. It may be a good idea to choose two colors,
one for evening gown and another for swimsuit and
any choreographed segments of the pageant. For
example, if you have a high energy intro, it might be
beneficial to choose a color that is darker (keep in
mind that on stage you will be under bright lights
and at a further distance so that can tend to wash out
your face) and matches with the mood of the music.
So if you like Pink, you may want to choose a
Magenta color for the routine.
For the on stage interview the same rule applies with
lighting and distance however, choose a color that is
brighter in your color palette but not as bright as
what you’d choose for the choreographed segment,
as there is less action or motion from you on stage
during the interview.
Have backups. Make sure whatever lipstick you
choose, have a back up of each color. The days
leading up to the pageant and during the pageant
can get hectic. You don’t want to find yourself in a
situation where you can’t find your lipstick, so
always keep backups of your makeup in another case
or bag.
