Try to Keep Up Johnny Adams If you are anything like me, most of your life feels like you are just trying to play catch-up. Maybe it is at work, at home, or even in the witch world. No matter who you talk to, it seems like we are always trying to play catch-up on work assignments, housework, family time, or just a little more prep time for rituals. No matter how well we organize and plan, we always feel like we are fall- ing behind. So, what is a good witch to do when they are behind the “eight ball” as it were? Perhaps some of the following tips will help you. • Let it go. I know it sounds counterproductive, but the first step to getting organized and caught up on your work is to acknowledge that you can’t do it all. This does two things, first – it keeps you from getting overly stressed out over what you can’t do. Secondly, it forces you to make a list of all your duties and tasks. Review your list and decide which ones you can actually do, which ones you can delegate to someone else, and which ones you are willing to skip. I know, it sounds like absolute heresy to say, “No, I am not going to (fill in the blank)”, but when you really think about it, the last thing you want to do is go to some activity or gathering, show up unprepared, and instead of enjoying yourself, you spend the entire time stressing over other things you need to get done. • Simplify and Organize. It’s tough to get organized when you have a lot of unnecessary stuff taking up space. So, when you’re starting to get organized, go through all of your items; sell, donate, or throw out anything which you don’t use on a regular basis. From there, you need to find a place for everything. When your space is organized, you’ll spend a whole lot less time looking for misplaced items. • Devote time each day to staying organized. Once you are organized and set your schedule, devote time each day to stay organized, adding items to your schedule as needed, and readjusting your priorities accordingly. • Know Your Limits. It is important to know when you’re in over your head. So, if any of the steps is over whelming, don’t be afraid to ask for help. There is one last little bit of advice I would like to give. Most people think they need to get caught up and then organized, but in fact, it is just the opposite. In truth, you need to get organized to get caught up. The reason for this is because- if you put off organizing until you are caught up, you will never get caught up enough to get organized. Pagan Living Magazine Litha 2017 31
