The Three Characters of Revelation 17
In Revelation 17:3-6 , we are told that John in his vision saw three characters .

In the vision that John saw there appeared a woman that was no ordinary woman .

It is clear from Revelation 17:3-6 , that God is disgusted with this `woman .' She is dressed beautifully and expensively . But she has in her hand a golden cup that is " filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries ." In the Bible , the term adultery is often used in a spiritual way . Notice what these verses are saying :
Jeremiah 3:9 ( NIV ) " Because Israel ' s immorality mattered so little to her , she defiled the land and committed adultery with stone and wood . "
