In both Old and New Testament , trumpets were used as a signal that something special was about to take place . In Old Testament times , trumpets were associated with some kind of activity from God ( Exodus 19:16 ). In Roman times , trumpets were used to announce the arrival of a great person . And in the New Testament , trumpets are a signal that Christ is about to appear . As we all know , the sound of a trumpet is so sharp and distinct that it always gets people ' s attention with its blast . At the time of the Rapture , the trumpet will announce that God is moving and a great person has arrived . That person is none other than Jesus Christ .
