Christ speaks to the Pharisees and the Sadducees ( p . 23 )
Christ was not very happy with the Pharisees and the Sadducees in his day because they were not watching for the signs of his first coming . In Matthew 16:1 , they asked Jesus to show them a miracle . Christ speaks to them in Matthew 16:2-3 : " When evening comes , you say , ' It will be fair weather , for the sky is red ,' and in the morning , ' Today it will be stormy , for the sky is red and overcast .' You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky , but you cannot interpret the signs of the times ."
He was saying to them , ' You are expert weathermen , you can tell us when it is going to rain , you look at the sky . If it is red at night — it means something . If it is red in the morning — it means something . You are expert weathermen , but you cannot interpret the signs of the times .
Now if Jesus Christ said that to the people of his day about his first coming what would he say to us concerning his second coming ?
