The False Prophet will have a tremendous job to do . His job will be to make all the people of the earth worship the Antichrist . Yet the False Prophet will be equipped for the job because he will be given incredible power . John tells us in Revelation 13:13-14a —
Revelation 13:13-14a ( NIV ) 13 ) " And he performed great and miraculous signs , even causing fire to come down from heaven to earth in full view of men . 14a ) Because of the signs he was given power to do on behalf of the first beast , he deceived the inhabitants of the earth . "

The power of the False Prophet will be incredible . The whole world will be watching while he causes fire to come down from heaven to the earth . This and other great and miraculous signs that he performs will have the earth in awe of him . He will combine this great miraculous power with another awesome gift : the incredible skill to deceive the masses of the world . Like the Antichrist , he will fool tens of millions of people with what appears to be kind and loving words . But in the end this deceiver will work with the Antichrist to control and destroy most of mankind .
