One of the most original — and popular — features is the fully operational restored ice cream parlor and soda fountain ( below right ).

Designed with the couples ’ grandchildren in mind , the ice cream parlor is situated next to a game area with several tables , a dartboard , a shuffleboard , and a bar that was modeled after the one in the hit television show “ Cheers .” At a recent event , the couple hired an ice cream man to hand out ice cream bars to guests ; nearby , a woman passed out containers of popcorn to guests heading into the 26-person theater . “ There ’ s also a wine room that holds 1,500 bottles , so the entire downstairs portion of the house is a really incredible entertaining area from start to finish ,” says Kristi Kramer , co-listing agent of Pacific Sotheby ’ s International Realty .
Back upstairs , wood accents and natural stone were used throughout to create an elegant aesthetic . “ All the stones were imported directly from Jordan , so you ’ ll see handmade Roman-style mosaics and tiles and incredible travertine and stone all the way down to the staircase ,” says Kramer . “ The natural stone adds a really rich , impressive look .”
The couple tapped their long-time friend , Dale Chihuly , to create a custom glass chandelier to hang over their piano . To help the one-of-a-kind sculpture feel at home in its setting , Chihuly fashioned it from desert-inspired colors ( think golds , reds , and whites ). He also created additional glass creations that are suspended over the reconstituted limestone fireplace in the living room . “ The pieces really
