We have a new addition ! Introducing the P2S BIM studio . Building Information Modelling has become an increasingly important design tool that allows us to effectively collaborate with our clients , stakeholders , and contractors to design and create built environments . The new studio will help us push the boundaries of BIM to satisfy the needs of our designers , and more importantly , of our clients . Our BIM studio will promote consistencies within each of our production groups , advance design automation , promote the development and implementation of BIM / CAD standards , conduct research and implement new technologies and systems and act as a central technology resource center for our technical staff on all BIM related issues .
We spoke with BIM Studio Leader , Jonathan Herrera to learn more about the studio .
Why did P2S launch a new BIM studio ? Jonathan Herrera : We started the BIM Studio primarily to make our organization more efficient . We determined that the infrastructure that provides our staff with the tools required to execute technical tasks could be improved . We wanted to make it easier for design teams to introduce new technology and bring forward new ideas . Working as a single unit , the BIM Studio will work together to advance our BIM capabilities and promote efficiencies and consistencies among our various production groups .
What processes and / or resources does the BIM studio have at its disposal ? JH : We will now have a team dedicated to promoting and realizing a consistent product across all projects . The BIM Studio will also oversee the daily operations of both the BIM User Group and the Design Automation Team , which will focus on providing company-wide awareness on our BIM / CAD Standards and the procurement of task automation , respectively . With an internal BIM User Group and Design Automation Team set in place , the BIM Studio is poised to tackle various challenges successfully , efficiently and effectively .
What does this mean for clients ? How will clients benefit ? JH : With each coming year , a new design tool is introduced into our industry . We ’ ll now have the capability to identify these new technologies and perform case studies early on and lead their implementation into our current workflows . As a result , we will be poised to deliver a higher quality product in a shorter timeframe , leading to lower design fees for our clients .
