Making sure that policies and procedures were in place to ensure the health and safety of our employees became a big part of our jobs .
Human Resources is responsible for all of these functions within the organization .
How important is recruitment to P2S ?
AB : It ’ s critical for the organization to have a recruiting function devoted to hiring the best and brightest applicants . It ’ s not just about trying to fill a chair . You need to hire individuals who will be a match for their current and future jobs so they can grow with the organization . Hiring for compatibility helps to reduce turnover and helps to sustain the culture of an organization . An effective recruiting process not only reduces turnover but increases engagement and productivity . This , in turn , impacts our relationship with clients and the quality of the work we produce .
What does the recruiting process look like ?
AB : We ’ re doing a lot more active recruiting than we ever have , and that ’ s because we have to . The market demands it , and the level of candidate that we ’ re looking for , you have to entice them to join the organization . The process starts when Patrick or Celenia receives a request to post a position . They ’ ll talk to the manager requesting the position about what they really need . Even though titles can be similar , every position is very different . Depending on the job ’ s function , what projects they ’ ll be working on and what the direction of the team is , managers can have very different requirements . Then we post the position on career sites like LinkedIn , Glassdoor and Indeed . The recruiter will begin looking for qualified candidates on different platforms . Our recruiters have a higher success rate than most , and that ’ s because of the reputation of the company and their knowledge of the industry .
What big project is the HR team currently working on ?
AB : We have a few . We ’ re looking at different HR information systems because we have several systems that serve different purposes for employees , like payroll and 401k . Employees have to log in to several different systems to access information , and we ’ re looking to consolidate all those platforms into one system . Finding one system that does it all is challenging , but we are confident we can do that . Having one system for all HR functions would be a big time saver for our staff .
We ’ re also focusing on diversity , equality , and inclusion ( DEI ). P2S is a very diverse company , but we want to do even more by offering additional programs for employees , training , and resource groups .
Ok , last question , why did you decide to go into HR ?
AB : I was in automotive customer relations management , and I worked very closely with my HR manager at the time . I decided if I ever had the opportunity , I ’ d like to transition to HR because I loved the employee relations , problem solving and was very interested in employment law and compliance . I had the opportunity to move into HR developing organizational programs , and I took it and never looked back .
What do you like the most about HR ?
AB : Two things . I like the people ; I ’ ve always been very people-oriented in my roles . I like solving problems , and HR is a big puzzle ; at the end of the day , you ’ re trying to do the best you can to develop systems and resources to support employees and ensure the organization is successful . Good people make successful organizations , and I want to ensure that P2S has the best people and the best supporting resources .
