MBCx works by collecting data from sensors and meters over an extended period and then using software to analyze that data . Cx agents place the sensors and install software tools and then use the data received to uncover trends , identify equipment not performing to standards , find energy-saving opportunities and maintain an eye on building performance over time . The process becomes automated after the initial setup period , allowing owners to benefit from continuous performance and energy monitoring .
What ’ s one notable project that used this service ? Can you briefly describe the project ?
One impactful MBCx project was for San Diego International Airport . We created a web-based customizable energy dashboard for their central utility plant with utility data and system monitoring data using PowerBI .
SDIA wanted something simple but comprehensive , so we created a dashboard with a high-level overview of energy and resource use that was easy to understand but could also allow users to dive into the details if they wanted . The dashboard also allows viewing and analyzing historical data , allowing SDIA to compare predicted performance with actual performance . This allows energy analysts and operators to identify data anomalies , reflecting the risk of equipment failure and energy deficiencies .
What competitive advantages does P2S Cx leverage when delivering this service ?
The Cx team has deployed MBCx services at several Universities for aerospace clients like JPL , Boeing and the Aerospace Corporation , cities , and public agencies . With this experience comes hard-earned knowledge and trialand-error experience that we constantly incorporate into our practices and use for new projects . I think we ’ ve accumulated a lot of best practice expertise from prior MBCx projects that clients benefit from . We have in-house engineers who can write complicated energy-efficiency sequences and are deeply involved in industrial controls and fault-detection standard writing . Efficiency is something that permeates through the culture at P2S . Given that our staff always works to find efficiency gains and stay at the technology frontier , it makes sense that we ’ d excel at something like MBCx , which is so focused on it .

What ’ s one notable project that used this service ? Can you briefly describe the project ?
I worked on a recent project at CSU Chico ’ s Merriam Library . This project consists of mechanical and lighting upgrades to its 4th floor . We commissioned both systems and verified their compatibility with the existing facilities as well as the integration of the lighting controls system with the mechanical VAV boxes .

However , it can include things like water management systems , building access systems , automation systems , energy metering , and more .
