Community Colleges are almost as diverse as the students they serve . They are urban , suburban and rural . Some are technical and trade-focused , but many are also centered on the arts and humanities . Students utilize them in different ways , some as a springboard for more education , others as a final destination , and others even as a means to explore different callings . Colleges also provide a wide array of jobs and careers , and many serve as gathering spaces for their communities ( I ’ ve seen antique fairs , farmers markets , livestock shows and more held on community college grounds ).
Many campuses across the U . S . are beginning to show their age , and the near future offers an exciting opportunity for these vital organizations to take advantage of new technologies and design strategies . P2S helps colleges boldly step into the future by designing new and renovated facilities with building systems that are technologically driven to help students succeed and also help exceed new energy use requirements for public facilities .
This issue of the P2S Magazine features our work at Community Colleges and profiles some of the people who support educators and students . Inside , you ’ ll find an interview with Design Principal Darren Schwend , a teaser for our complete community college communication campaign , new podcasts , a project success story and more .
As we continue our journey as part of Legence , I want to thank you for your support in 2024 . One can nearly catch a glimpse of the coming year , but I hope you make the most of the autumn surrounded by family , friends and loved ones .
