UCI Medical Center , Building 55 Research Lab Renovation
Building 55 is a four-story research building with AAALAC-accredited vivarium spaces in the basement and lab spaces on the upper floors . This renovation includes replacing the roof , major rooftop mechanical equipment , zone-level terminal units , and control upgrade in Shanbrom Hall , Building 55 at the UCI Medical Center in Orange , CA .
The project includes the demolition and removal of the existing roof and mechanical equipment , installation of new roof , insulation , drains , rooftop chilled water air handling units and associated chillers , rooftop exhaust fan systems , and interior laboratory controls upgrades with ductwork replacements . Project alternates include centralized demand control ventilation , interior and exterior lighting upgrades , cold room renovations , and interior upgrades such as painting and flooring . Besides MEP design services , we also provided architectural consulting , structural engineering , and wind engineering services for this design-build project .

University of Southern California , Norris Research Tower cGMP Lab
USC is building out 2,700 GSF of shell space in the basement of Norris Research Tower ( NRT ) for a multi-use cGMP manufacturing facility for Keck School and Medicine , Keck Hospital , Norris Cancer Center , and Children ’ s Hospital of Los Angeles . This current Good Manufacturing Practice ( cGMP ) Laboratory consists of five ISO 7 clean rooms and one ISO 8 clean manufacturing space to manufacture cellular products under cGMP , Good Tissue Practice , and complies with 21 CFR Part 211 and USP 800 .
P2S is providing MEP engineering services for the cGMP build-out in the basement of Norris Research Tower . The team successfully identified outside air and exhaust air pathways to serve the facility . The HVAC system was designed to meet NIH design criteria and achieve switchable pressurization . Our work also included a new dedicated control system with unique customized features for the cGMP facility .
