Ozwald Boateng by Gemma Arterton Ozwald Boateng by Gemma Arterton Presentation | Page 86

When I started this project, I felt overwhelmed as I was told how much work to produce. However now I realise that this amount of work was necessary for anyone to be able to understand what I wanted to create. At first I did not know which celebrity and which designer to choose, as it was difficult to choose from only English people.

Originally, I had an idea to use Tom Ford and create a suit collection with Gemma Arterton, however I found out that Tom Ford is American, therefore I could not have used him. Thankfully, I was then informed by one of the lecturers that a similar tailor called Ozwald Boateng was English and that I could use him. I curated some research and found out that he was perfect for my ideas and decided to use him.

I have really enjoyed this project as it has been great to be able to create whatever I want in relation to my brand, and I have enjoyed the freedom of that. Not having many guidelines was an issue to me at first as I felt that I still needed guidance as to what to do, however once I go into the project and started I found it easy to just come up with things to create.

When making this final presentation, I came across a problem that I kept finding little things to change, for example the colours and the positioning of some things, I feel that I shouldn't have pondered anything and that I should have stuck with my instinct and kept things the way they were.

Also, when creating my packaging I came across a few problems, for example I started to design a box online that looked good (this is in my Pathbrite folder) however on the website there was a minimum of thirty items for ordering and this would have cost me a lot of money. I then had to think how else I could create packaging other than ordering it online, I came up with the idea to buy a plain paper bag and then put my own logo and writing on it, this was a good idea, but it was difficult to put the logo on the bag and so I ironed it on. In the end, the second packaging idea worked out better and was a better colour that is consistent throughout all of my work.

Creating my Look Book also became an issue because I could not physically go out and create the images, I had to use images from WGSN taken from other various catwalks as similar to Ozwald Boateng as possible. This meant that all of the backgrounds were different, however in the end I don't think this was a problem because I feel that the images I have used work well together.

Overall, I think this project has gone well and I have enjoyed it thoroughly, the only thing I would change if I did it again would be to honestly keep a check list from the start so that I don't keep finding little pieces of work to complete that I have forgotten about.
