A Moment of Yoga

It was a simple question: “Would you say you’re a perfectionist?” I felt it pierce deep in my core—exposed and vulnerable, but also authentic, honest, human. And nurtured. Connected. The moment became not only about my relationship with myself, constantly trying to balance self-acceptance with a hunger for growth and change, but also about relationship with the external, with another human who had taken the time to look closely and to acknowledge with me this quality that can derail me if I let it. This moment of yoga has inspired many more as I inquire into the contradiction of creatures that are at once perfect and imperfect, the difference between acceptance and stagnation, the importance of outward and loving acknowledgement of others. The waves that result from a simple action are unpredictable and awesome.
