FAQ
What if I need to cancel my ceremony?
If you need to cancel for any reason, please
contact us immediately on
0345 241 2489. A cancellation fee will apply.
Can we bring food and drink?
Please note that food, drink and chewing gum
are not permitted.
I am very nervous, what if I forget the
words I have to say?
Don’t worry. You repeat the words after the
Registrar and you do not need to learn them.
Can people take photographs of, or record,
the ceremony?
Your guests are more than welcome to take
photos at the ceremony but please discuss this
with the Registrar first.
Video recordings are allowed but please let the
Registrar know this before the ceremony so the
person can be directed to the most appropriate
position.
Can guests throw confetti?
Some venues have restrictions on confetti, so
please discuss this with the Registrar conducting
your ceremony and the staff at the venue.
Why can’t there be any religious content?
Civil ceremonies were created for those who
cannot, or did not wish to hold their ceremony
in the Church. The law of this country states
that civil ceremonies must not be religious in
nature, nor should they include extracts from an
authorised religious ceremony.
Is a ceremony conducted by an
independent celebrant legal?
No. Please see page 33 for further information.
