Hay Literary Festival (his 6th
year of proposing and chairing
events there), he has been exploring
the gritty details behind a rapidly
changing rural scene from the
insight as a practicing surveyor
and communicator. Opinion pieces
from him in the i Newspaper on
wildfires, a letter in the Guardian
on the dangers of dumbing down
environmental data, an in-depth
piece on rewilding in Ecos and an
opinion on the ‘wicked problem’ of
farming food in the Farmers Guardian
make him a tricky player to place in
a box.
That’s the point. It’s countryside
complex with few easy wins!
