ike Appleton has completed his
ninth book - 50 Gems of Cheshire -
set to be published in April.
Following his other books - 50 Gems
of the Yorkshire Dales and 50 Gems of
Derbyshire - it discovers the best places to
visit in the county alongside a plethora of
information and great photographs.
Even though it’s a relatively flat part
of the world, there’s plenty of mouth-
watering landscapes to be found including
the Black Hill (pictured), an anomaly in
itself. It’s the highest point in the historic
county, but now effectively on the border
between the borough of Kirklees in West
Yorkshire and High Peak in Derbyshire.
Yes, it’s a Cheshire hill, in the Peak
District near West Yorkshire!
