Time with you (Mei x Reader)

It was good to be a mermaid – the sea was your home and you could travel as far as the water could carry you. Seeing the all calm and collected sides of the seas, the wide range of colours of the reef and the swaying of the waved during the storm was something that you have found worth living for. You mostly tried to avoid the crowds and travelled alone, though almost everyone was pleased to see you, inviting you to stay with them for a while. The world of the human never seemed to be interesting for you and you just preferred to stay in here, knowing that there is nothing you could hope to get from out there. Until you saw her.

You were just in the visit to the lake, enjoying the warmth of the sun on your skin when you saw her for the first time. The short woman looked cute and smiling, but at the very same time her chocolate eyes hinted the intelligence and wisdom. She didn’t noticed you at first, too bothered about the notes she was making, but when she raised her head and your eyes met, you felt your heart going so fast that the red blush just bloomed on your face. The woman started to call to you, but you quickly lowered down, hoping that she would just find this strange encounter her imagination.

But if you had to be honest with yourself, you stayed in there, hoping to get more chance to see that beautiful creature. And she came later this day, looking for you and though you didn’t have the courage, you watched her moves from under the surface. When she finally walked away, you found enough will to peek over the water, watching her leave in the distance, when you noticed something white on the shore. A paper with a small note with a pencil.

It was a madness, but you responded to it, carefully writing so you wouldn’t tear the paper. For a long time she exchanged that kind of messages with you, leaving the gift from time to time. You found that really exciting, trying to give her something in return, but mostly you knew the shells and the some alga. When she offered you a meeting, you were hesitate for a longer while – not knowing if you would go for it. After all, it could be a well-prepared trap for her to capture you. But in her words she seemed to be so honest person and you had to give it a try. So you were now waiting patiently on the rock, sitting down and praying to the tides you were right about this.

“You are as pretty as I remember you” the soft voice interrupted your stressful thoughts and you turned around. In the real life she was much more beautiful and you couldn’t help but smile. Allowing her to sit down next to you, you could just nod, being too nervous to respond. Instead you just pretended to watch the sunset, fully red in your face but not escaping.
