Day for reflection (Ana x Reinhardt)

The Sun was slowly rising over Berlin. Ana was sitting by the window, drinking coffee and enjoying the view. Today was a very special day in Germany, and one could notice it just by looking outside. The city was quiet, peaceful. Shops were closed, some cars rarely drove by. She sighed, finished her drink and went to get herself ready.

She did her long gray hair into one braid and then she went to her bedroom. Waiting for her there was black, formal dress. She put her on, did some light makeup, and went downstairs with matching purse and shoes.

Reinhardt was waiting for her in the kitchen. Dressed in a black suit, this giant man looked nobly. He sat there in silence, leaning over a cup of coffee he held in his hands. Beside him, on the table, there was a big bouquet composed of lilies and chrysanthemums.

Ana was feeling nervous, but she knew she had to be strong for him. Today was important to the Crusader.

“You look great,” she said.

“So do you,” the man replied with sadness in his voice.

“Are we ready to go?” she asked, turning her head to face the door.

“Yes, I have everything I need here,” he answered, grabbing the bouquet. “Let’s go.”

They left the house, and Ana once again admired the city. It looked so beautiful in the morning light. But she didn’t say a word out of respect for Reinhardt’s feelings. He was deep in thoughts, silent.

Yesterday was Halloween. People were happy, dressing as famous monsters and partying with friends. Some Overwatch agents organized their own and even invited them, but Ana and Reinhardt politely refused. They were busy preparing for this day.

Today was Allerheiligen, “All Saint’s Day”. People in many countries, including Germany, reminisce about their lost ones in this time of year. And Reinhardt was no different. They made it to the cemetery, where citizens gathered for the ceremony. Wilhelm placed the bouquet beneath the memorial dedicated to all Crusaders that died during the Omnic Crisis.
