OrchKids Prepare to Attend Prestigious Summer Music Camps
Every year , OrchKids students have the opportunity to audition for and attend prestigious summer music camps , including Interlochen Center for the Arts , YOLA National , and Camp Encore / Coda ! In just a few weeks students will be packing their bags and traveling to camps around the country . But how did they get here ? Auditions are only one step in the journey to attend summer music camps ( scan the QR code to read all about audition preparation on page 27 of the previous Overture ). ➞
So , what happened after auditions were submitted ? Students anxiously awaited their results for a few weeks while audition tapes were reviewed . Then , the acceptances came rolling in ! Some students were delighted to discover that they had received a full scholarship to Interlochen . Scholarship opportunities from camps are limited , but it does not limit the number of OrchKids students that can attend . OrchKids covers the cost of tuition so that any student who wants to attend a summer music camp can do so . While many of our students are accepted to the camp they auditioned for , those who were not are encouraged to attend incredible camps that do not require auditions such as Archipelago Summer Music Camp , Peabody Innovation and Music Academy , and Kingdom Flute . No matter which camp they attend , outside summer programs allow our students to continue honing their musical skills and broaden their horizons .
OrchKids supports the entire enrollment process including Spanish translation for our Spanish-speaking families , assisting with paperwork collection , and setting up their class schedule . When the time comes to travel to the camp , OrchKids is there every step of the way — literally ! Staff members travel with the students and help them get settled into camp . Transportation to and from the camp is also entirely funded and coordinated by OrchKids .
