BSO AT MONTGOMERY COLLEGE

Free Community Concert in Takoma Park
The BSO is proud to expand our reach and make new community connections in our second home of Montgomery County ! Through a partnership with Montgomery College , the Orchestra performed a night of light orchestral favorites , including Strauss ’ On the Beautiful Blue Danube and Coleridge-Taylor ’ s Ballade , in the College ’ s Cultural Arts Center with Assistant Conductor Jonathan Rush .
“ We are lucky to have so many loyal and dedicated supporters for our performances at The Music Center at Strathmore ,” said Vice President of the BSO at Strathmore Theresa Cameron . “ However , it is also important to offer more opportunities to hear live music outside of the concert hall and throughout the county . We are lucky to have so many wonderful facilities in our County , great partners like Montgomery College and Montgomery County , and , of course , our amazing orchestra and Assistant Conductor Jonathan Rush .”
Mark your calendars for a summer of music ! This year , the BSO launches a three-year initiative to showcase the Orchestra as one that belongs to the entire State of Maryland . Within each county , the BSO will partner with a venue , working together to curate a concert that excites those in that community .
“ We believe that everyone should have access to the transformative power of music ,” said Vice President and Chief Advancement Officer Allison Burr-Livingstone . “ And , while we have made leaps and bounds in our digital footprint and reach , there is something to be said about the energy of a live performance . The onset of this tour across the state will not only allow more people to experience their BSO , but will also be an important step in our journey to learn how we can better serve the many communities across our state .”
Year one of the tour will bring the Orchestra to Garrett County for the opening of the Performing Arts Center at Garrett College , Prince George ’ s County ( National Harbor ), Carroll County ( Carroll Community College Amphitheater ), Calvert County ( PNC Waterside Pavilion at the Calvert Marine Museum ), Kent County ( Wilmer Park ), and Howard County ( Merriweather Post Pavilion ).
