in B A LT I M O R E S Y M P H O N Y O R C H E S T R A NEWS OF NOTE UPDATE FROM STRATHMORE The Completion of The Bernard Family Foundation Pavilion O n June 13, 2019, The Music Center at Strathmore celebrated the completion of The Bernard Family Foundation Pavilion. Adding 5,000 square feet to the North Bethesda venue, the Pavilion increases the café seating from 80 seats to 250 seats by enclosing the Bou Terrace. The renovations include a skylight and glass walls that can slide open in good weather, as well as an escalator connecting the Promenade and Orchestra levels. This will not only support patrons with mobility issues, but also relieve congestion before and after concerts. Also noteworthy are the improvements in the Comcast Lounge. Located on the orchestra tier, the Comcast Lounge provides an exclusive space for Governing Members and the Symphony Society to relax before the concert and during intermission. The amenities now include additional seating and an expanded bar area, as well as private restrooms and a cloak room. The BSO is looking forward to utilizing this space for lectures and special programs that enhance the concert experience of members throughout the season. The conclusion of the project is especially well-timed as The Music Center will be celebrating its 15-year anniversary in 2020! 4
