is with a spirit of gratitude
that we welcome you to this
concert. Your attendance, advocacy and
support has fostered one of our country’s
greatest orchestras and enriched our
community with music.
It is important to celebrate all that has been
accomplished, while we also acknowledge
that important work is ahead. A wise advi-
sor wrote to me and said, “The struggle for
support never ends.” It is critical that we
maintain and accelerate our momentum.
We are optimistic about what we can and
will achieve together— current and past board members, endowment trustees, musi-
cians, staff and other community leaders—to strengthen the BSO’S foundation and
move forward in a positive direction.
We have heard from many of you in recent months, and your message is clear. The BSO
is an integral and indispensable part of our community and one of Maryland’s most
important cultural assets. Many have also expressed that now is the time to deepen and
expand your relationship with the BSO. I encourage you to read the stories of several
members of our BSO family that have taken those steps—including the inspiring
commitment of Board Chair Laureate Barbara Bozzuto and her family, outlined on
page 34. Your help too is certainly a critical vote of confidence in the organization and
our great orchestra.
To maintain the exceptional quality of our orchestra, we must continue to build our
family of audience members and donors. With the support of all of those whom have
demonstrated incredible passion for and belief in our Orchestra—we can and will make
significant progress.
This season will continue be filled with superb performances by our great orchestra, and
we look forward to an outstanding 2019 –20 season. If you are not currently a subscriber,
