EMANUEL AX PERFORMS BRAHMS
Los Angeles Philharmonic for a concert
at the Hollywood Bowl; and the Dallas
Symphony Orchestra, where she served
as Assistant Conductor for two seasons.
Reinhardt received her master’s degree
in conducting from The Juilliard School
where she studied with Alan Gilbert.
Born in Saarbrücken, Germany, she
attended Zurich’s University of the Arts
to study violin with Rudolf Koelman and
conducting with Constantin Trinks, as
well as additional training under Johannes
Schlaefli. She has also participated in
conducting master classes with Bernard
Haitink, Michael Tilson Thomas, David
Zinman, Paavo Järvi, Neeme Järvi, Marin
Alsop and James Ross.
Prior to her appointment in Dallas,
Reinhardt was a Dudamel Fellow of the
Los Angeles Philharmonic (2017–18),
Conducting Fellow at the Seattle
Symphony (2015–16) and Tanglewood
Music Center (2015) and an Associate
Conducting Fellow of the Taki Concordia
program (2015–17).

Ruth Reinhardt
Ruth Reinhardt is
quickly establishing
herself as one of
today’s most dynamic
and nuanced young
conductors, building a reputation for
her musical intelligence, programmatic
imagination and elegant performances.
In the 2019–20 season, Reinhardt makes
debuts with the symphony orchestras
of Detroit, Indianapolis, Baltimore,
Houston, San Antonio and Grand Rapids,
as well as the Los Angeles and St. Paul
chamber orchestras. In Europe, debuts
include the Orchestre national d’Île-de-
France, Frankfurt Radio Symphony,
Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester
Berlin, MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony,
Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra,
Tonkünstler Orchestra and Gävle
Symphony Orchestra. She will also return
to the Malmö Symphony Orchestra;
Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra;
Born in modern day
Lvov, Poland, Emanuel
Ax moved to Winnipeg,
Canada with his family
when he was a young
boy. Ax made his New York debut in
the Young Concert Artists Series, and in
1974, won the first Arthur Rubinstein
International Piano Competition in Tel
Aviv. In 1975, he won the Michaels Award
of Young Concert Artists and the Avery
Fisher Prize four years later.
Highlights of the 2019–20 season
include a European summer tour with
the Vienna Philharmonic and Bernard
Haitink; an Asian tour with the London
Symphony Orchestra and Sir Simon
Rattle; U.S. concerts with the Rotterdam
Philharmonic Orchestra and Lahav Shani,
as well as three concerts with Leonidas
Kavakos and Yo-Yo Ma at Carnegie Hall.
Ax’s participation in Carnegie Hall’s
celebration of Beethoven’s 250 th birthday
will culminate in a solo recital in May and
is preceded by recitals in Madison, Santa
